Valentine’s Day (Advanced – C2)

Valentine’s Day – Transcript

Valentine’s Day, celebrated on February 14th, is a day dedicated to the expression of love and affection between romantic partners. The celebration of this holiday varies from country to country, reflecting the unique cultural traditions and customs of each place. In the United States, Valentine’s Day is commonly marked by the exchange of cards, gifts, and flowers between romantic partners, while in France, couples exchange chocolates and dine in intimate settings to celebrate their love. In Japan, women give gifts, such as chocolates, to the men in their lives, and the tradition is reversed a month later on White Day. In South Korea, couples also celebrate with gifts and special activities, such as romantic picnics and couples’ massages. In Italy, couples often take a romantic getaway to Venice, where they can take gondola rides and enjoy the city’s picturesque canals and architecture. Regardless of the specific celebrations, Valentine’s Day remains a day for people across the world to express their love and affection to those they hold dear.
