Trick-or-Treat (Intermediate – B1)

Trick-or-Treat - Transcript

Trick-or-treating is a Halloween custom for children and adults in some countries. On the evening of October 31st, children in costumes travel from house to house, saying “Trick or treat”. The “treat” is usually candy, although in some cultures money is given instead. People often put up Halloween decorations outside their houses. The most common of these decorations is the jack-o’-lantern, a pumpkin with a scary face carved on the side.
In Scotland and Ireland, the Halloween tradition of wearing costumes and going from house to house for treats started in the 16th Century. These days trick-or-treating is common in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, and Australia.
