Statue of Liberty – Transcript

The Statue of Liberty is probably the most famous monument in the United States. It is located on Ellis Island, near New York City. The statue was given to the United States by the people of France in 1886. It represents the friendship between the two countries. The Statue of Liberty is a woman wearing a crown and sandals. Her right arm is raised and she is holding a torch.
The outside of the statue is made of copper, but the inside is steel. The Statue of Liberty is 46 meters tall, but with the pedestal and foundation, it is 93 meters tall.
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous symbols in the world. For many years it was the first thing visitors saw when they arrived by boat from around the world.
