SDG 11 (Beginner – A2)

SDG 11 – Transcript

Did you know that many of the world’s largest cities are in trouble? Jakarta in Indonesia has the most polluted air. Cape Town in South Africa is running out of drinking water. Athens in Greece has fires in the summer. Florida in the United States has dangerous storms. Sustainable Development Goal 11 is about making cities around the world safer, better places to live.
More and more people are leaving the countryside to live in cities. There are many advantages to city life: plenty of jobs, quality schools, public transportation, access to healthcare, and so on. But not all cities are good places to live. Too many people living in an area often causes problems like air and water pollution. The plants and animals that once lived in the area disappear.
There are many things we can do to make our cities more sustainable. We can plant trees outside our homes and create more parks. We can reduce waste and recycle as much as possible. We can use bicycles or public transportation instead of cars.
