Deforestation (Beginner – A2)

Deforestation – Transcript

Deforestation is when forests are destroyed by cutting down trees. Cutting down trees is called logging. The most common reason for deforestation is to make farms and ranches. Trees are also cut down for firewood and lumber. Lumber is wood we use to build things like furniture and houses.
Deforestation has many bad effects on the environment. The trees in forests clean the air. They produce oxygen and absorb carbon. They protect us from storms and other dangerous weather. Forests are also the home of many animals. When the trees are cut down, the animals have no place to live.
It is very important to protect our forests. They are important to life on this planet. We must also work hard to plant new trees and grow forests for the future.
