Bartering (Beginner – A2)

Bartering – Transcript

What can you do if you need something, but don’t have any money to pay for it? In some parts of the world there is a system for people with this problem. It is called bartering. Bartering is trading one thing for another without using money.
Imagine you are a farmer. You need a chicken, but you don’t have the money to pay for it. You could try trading something that you do have, like a sack of corn, for the chicken. Bartering is a way for two people to get what they want by trading things they already have. A farmer who needs a chicken can barter with a farmer who needs corn.
These days bartering can be done face to face or through websites on the Internet.
