Aquaponics (Advanced – C2)

Aquaponics – Transcript

Aquaponics is a method of farming that combines aquaculture (raising fish or other aquatic animals) with hydroponics (growing plants in water without soil). This method of farming offers many benefits over traditional food production.
One of the main benefits of aquaponics is that it is a highly efficient and sustainable way of producing food. The waste produced by the fish is used to fertilize the plants, while the plants help to purify the water for the fish. This closed-loop system reduces the need for costly inputs such as fertilizer and pesticides, and also eliminates the need for large amounts of water.
Aquaponics is also a great way to learn about the interdependence of living systems and the importance of biodiversity.
Another benefit of aquaponics is that it is a great way to teach about the importance of responsible resource management. Aquaponics teaches us how to use resources in a sustainable way, and how to think about the long-term consequences of other methods of growing food.
