Space Tourism - Transcript
Space tourism is a new experience that allows people to travel into space. The first space tourists will be rich people who can afford the high cost of such a trip. However, as space travel becomes more common, the cost will go down. It is expected that more and more people will be able to take part in space tourism in the future.
At present, there are two main ways for people to travel into space. One way is to become an astronaut for NASA or another government agency. This requires many years of study and training, so it is not easy for most people to do. Another way is to buy a ticket to one of the international space stations run by governments or companies like Space Adventures.
There are not many tickets, but they can be bought by anyone who has the money. So far, about 500 people have bought tickets to travel to space.
People who go into space usually spend about two weeks living and working on the space station before returning home again. It may seem strange that someone would pay so much money just to live in a small room with other astronauts for two weeks. But many people think it’s worth it because they get to experience things that very few others have done. They can eat space food, float around in the space station, and even take pictures of Earth!
