Clarinet – Transcript
The clarinet is a woodwind instrument. These instruments were traditionally made of wood, but these days they are often made of metal or plastic. Sound is made by blowing through the mouthpiece of the clarinet. The body of the clarinet is a tube with holes. The holes are covered by the fingers to make musical notes. There are also buttons which, when pressed, cover certain holes. These buttons are usually played with the pinkie finger.
A beginner clarinet player usually can play a note within the first minutes of a lesson. Making sound with the clarinet is easier than making sound with many other wind instruments. Most music teachers think the clarinet is a good instrument for young players. The method of playing is very similar to the flute and the saxophone. Changing from playing the clarinet to one of these instruments is not too difficult.
